THE street theatre programme started apace on Thursday with fun for all the family. A tennis court appeared on Stockton High Street for Wimbledon-style japes and John McEnroe style tantrums.
The Strangelings also performed on the Stockton High Street and the duo, wearing oversized shoes, proceeded to delight the crowds with a comedy acrobatic show.

Down at Trinity Gardens, Pif Paf’s Trunk was a hit with the little ‘uns as a ringmaster failed miserably to keep a cast of puppet animals and a majestic elephant under control. Take an umbrella or don’t get too close if you don’t want to get wet! A lovely family show.
In Parish Gardens, the Spiegel Tent welcomed festival favourites the Chipolatas and Jack Drum performed a moving show called A feather in the Sky before taking their Sound Sculptures into the outside area. These large scale wooden and aluminium structures were a magnet for young and old alike and the chimes rang out in the summer sunshine…
